From the UK to Australia: Delivering a Bespoke Control Panel for a Bitumen Pumping Station

One of our latest projects is a bespoke control panel for a bitumen pumping station, which will soon be making its way from our workshop in the UK to Australia.

Designed Around the Process

Bitumen handling presents unique challenges. Maintaining the correct temperature, controlling product movement and ensuring reliable operation are all essential for efficient processing.

For this project, the control system was designed to manage the complete transfer and circulation process, providing the customer with a reliable and easy-to-operate solution.

The system allows operators to:

• Transfer bitumen from road tankers into one of two storage tanks.

• Transfer product between the two tanks when required.

• Agitate the bitumen to maintain product consistency.

• Recirculate the bitumen through the pipework to keep the system operating efficiently.

To help maintain the correct operating temperature, all associated pipework is fitted with trace heating, ensuring the bitumen remains in the optimal condition throughout the process.
