Why Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) Matters More Than You Think

When investing in a bespoke control panel or automation system, it's natural to focus on the finished product. However, one of the most important stages of any project takes place before the equipment ever reaches site: Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT).

What Is Factory Acceptance Testing?


Factory Acceptance Testing is a structured process where a completed control panel or system is tested in a controlled workshop environment before it leaves the manufacturer.


The aim is simple: verify that everything operates correctly against the project specification.


This can include checking electrical functionality, PLC programming, HMI operation, alarms, safety systems and communications between connected devices.
